Regular updates on what I have been up to around the world.

Sunshine After The Rain

Hi there, once again apologies for the absence of a blog but it's been a busy few months. I now have the opportunity to settle down and pen a few words!

I'm currently in Turkey where I'm playing in the Turkish Airlines Open at the Montgomerie Maxx Royal in Belek, and we've had some seriously bad weather. Play was suspended on Friday lunch time and it's now Saturday morning and we're still waiting to complete the second round. The thunder and lightning has been pretty spectacular but we could have definitely done without it.

The beginning of the week was taken up with two pro-ams and in one I played with competition winners from Your Golf Travel and our team managed to come second.

We seem to have been plagued with weather situations this year and none more so than at the Portugal Masters where we experienced deluges which led to the event being reduced to just 36 holes. It did give me the opportunity to spend a little more time in the Your Golf Travel facility and meet plenty of their clients for a chat and a drink.

For those of you avid golf watchers you've probably seen by now that myself and Frankie Dettori made a tv commercial for YGT at The Belfry. It was a lot of fun doing the filming and I certainly enjoyed showing all and sundry how to pour the most perfect pint of the black stuff! And I now have a new partner in crime as my pal Lee Westwood is now on board as a Your Golf Travel ambassador and I'm looking forward to shooting a new tv commercial with him during the New Year.

Last weekend saw the 13th edition of the Darren Clarke Foundation Champions Weekend at Portmarnock where twelve youngsters had a fabulous couple of days. It's always fun to host the weekend and I really enjoy giving them a bit of coaching and mentoring. It never ceases to amaze me how talented these kids are and it's great to give a helping hand to our possible stars of the future.

So the remainder of my season will bring me back to Turkey for the Beko Pro-am and then a week in Thailand for the Thailand Open at Amata Spring and finally the Dubai Open at the Els Club. Hopefully it will be a dry end to the season in the weather department!

That's all for now - Cheers, Darren.
