Back To The Day Job
12 October 2016

After 20 months commitment to the Ryder Cup cause, it's now time to get back to the day job.

Things didn't work out as hoped for in Minnesota, but it wasn't for the lack of trying and I was extremely proud of the 12 players who represented Europe.

We had a mostly young and inexperienced team and they were up against a USA outfit and nation firing on all cylinders both inside and outside the ropes.

The six rookies will have gained invaluable knowledge about the competition and the unique atmosphere and I would expect every one of them to be pushing to get their own back and the trophy next time in Paris.

So now I'm in Macau shaking off the dust from my clubs and hoping I have enough game left to contend again as I start the countdown to my qualification for the Seniors Tours.

It's amazing how fast time does fly because I can remember my first pro event as if it were yesterday when in fact it is a quarter of a century ago.

So on we go, but first I would like to thank all those people who sent me well wishes both before and after the Ryder Cup.   Your words meant a lot to me and I am deeply indebted for your support.

Now let's see what happens as I get back into the swing of tournament play.  It's going to be another interesting time.
